The bottom is a firm foam – not beads. It is comfortable and fits perfectly on my lap when I am in bed or a chair. I don’t use the ‘hole’ slot at the top that they show being used for your cell phone because my laptop covers it. – I think if you’re using a small tablet that might be more useful. It’s great.
