I know this because organizing my own garage has been a struggle until I implemented these easy garage organization ideas which I’m excited to share with you. My family has a tendency to collect a lot of items like sports equipment, tools, holiday décor, etc. Now, we can actually park in our garage, too – yippee!
These REAL LIFE garage organizing ideas will help you get your life back on track.
1. Host a yard sale.

2. Need garage wall organizing ideas? Install overhead racks to hang bins and larger items.
Maximize your garage storage space by utilizing your walls and ceilings to get as many bins off the floor as possible (I placed all my camping and holiday bins on these racks since I don’t need to access the items regularly). I recently installed seven of these adjustable overhead garage storage systems and it’s amazing how much more floor space is now available.
3. Purchase overhead storage hangers.
Use the ceiling to organize your garage. These overhead storage hangers can be found at any local home improvement store. They are great for hanging bikes, cords or scooters.

The first step to organizing your garage is getting shelving for your belongings. You can either build your own shelving or purchase easy-to-assemble shelves for bins and boxes. You can create a workspace by using adjustable shelving units. They can be stacked vertically or horizontally.
5. Use labels.
Labels are a great way to organize your garage and we recommend that you use them. Labeling boxes and bins helps identify contents and allows kids to see what belongs where.
6. Add pegboards for garage tool organization.
Pegboards and pegboard accessories from Amazon or the hardware store offer great ways to easily organize hand tools and smaller garage items.
7. Get your garage tools off the floor.
Get brooms, mops, and lawn tools off the ground with a hanging organizing system like this one.
8. Hanging ladders is another great garage organization idea.
Heavy-duty wall-mounted hooks are perfect for hanging ladders and other large tools. I like this inexpensive Everbilt 4″ Handy Hook from Home Depot.
9. The space above garage doors can be used.
My husband made a simple overhead organizer for extra wood scraps and wood flooring. It’s great to have these materials up and out of the way.
