Each recipe comes with all the ingredients, pre-portioned and ready to cook. Everything is pre-portioned, so it’s easy to put each meal together, including spices and herbs that you likely don’t have laying around.
The only thing I had to add was olive oil when cooking my meals.
There’s also a handy booklet that walks you through each recipe with easy step-by-step instructions and stunning pictures so cooking in a pinch has honestly never been easier! Plus, sometimes it’s hard to find special ingredients for flavorful vegan dishes so Purple Carrot’s meals are such a great solution! 👏🏻
There were a few glitches. 😕
A dressing was missing from one of my recipes and a lot of the mushrooms I used for my Crispy Quinoa Cakes had gone bad. 🙁 The mushrooms were still a sufficient amount and I managed to successfully make both recipes (and enjoyed both!) despite these inconveniences.
That said, I was doing a review after all and I’m BIG on great customer service so regardless if I made my meals work, I always have our Hip readers’ best interests on the forefront.
So I went undercover and called customer service…
Turns out, Purple Carrot’s customer service is very responsive & wonderful! YAY! 💜
A rep answered my call in 34 seconds (yup, I timed it 😆) and after explaining my issues, they were happily willing to give me a FULL refund for both meals to my Purple Carrot account – valued at $30! 👏🏻 To top it off, she said these credits NEVER expire so whenever I’m ready to use them, they’ll be available. I’m not vegan, but I really enjoyed all my meals from Purple Carrot and was full from every dish! I tried many new recipes I would have never thought to make – like Buffalo tofu, crispy quinoa cakes, and an Indian-inspired veggie dish that was out of this world good! Purple Carrot has given me a fresh perspective on eating healthy food without having to spend extra money on meats and seafood.
Everything was easy to make and they’re easily in my top 3 favorite meal delivery services from the ones I’ve tried. It would also be great for anyone who needs individual portions and is vegan, but lives in a household that does not allow it.
